I met Chrissie working in the ER as the nurse assigned to her care. Chrissie recognized me as the nurse whistleblower, and today, we talked about our encounter and her experience as a patient.
As many of you know, I returned to the bedside a couple of months ago after 2.5 years since blowing the whistle. After releasing my protected disclosure, I had more than a dozen complaints about my license. I was ordered to complete a formal ethics evaluation, in which I was deemed ethical in my disclosure, and my license remained intact.
I thought I would never be able to return to this setting since many of my beliefs don’t match up with allopathic medicine anymore. But as God would have it, this hospital checked all the boxes, and I accepted a position.
My heart has always been drawn to being a staunch patient advocate and caring for patients’ minds, bodies, and spirits regardless of their beliefs. Tune in to witness what patient advocacy, shared decision-making, and informed holistic care look and feel like!
