People often spend way too much time wondering why Jesus rode a donkey or mule or colt . . . whatever into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. The story of Solomon’s coronation gives us the answer.

Then, the story of Holy Week solves our problem and answers our prayer; “deliver us from evil.”

Did you know that Jesus could have made a run for it and escaped the crucifixion? He could have disappeared into the night, and no one could have found him.

Instead, he turned toward the cross. He remained faithful to God’s will.

It’s our turn. Turn toward God. Remain faithful.

Pastor Rick Stevens has served churches from Oklahoma to New Brunswick, Canada. He has been a pastor, youth pastor, and church music director. Since January 1997, he has been the pastor of Diplomat Wesleyan Church in Cape Coral, FL. He is married to Jan and has two children and four grandchildren. His most unusual travel experience was visiting the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station in Ukraine, the world’s worst nuclear power accident site.
