Just when you think you have heard the most ridiculous things come out of the mouths of all kinds of politicians, one of them decides to say something so ridiculous that it deserves some kind of award for its outright stupidity.

I am talking about New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, who this week made a ridiculous statement leading people to believe that he is allowing an illegal immigrant to live on his property and challenging ICE to try to “come and get her.” This is the ultimate display of arrogance from an individual who believes he is above the law.

Not only did Murphy get the attention of people all over the country, but he also got the attention of Border Czar Tom Homan, who said he would investigate Murphy’s statement and if he is knowingly concealing an illegal immigrant, he is violating Title 8, U.S. Code 1324 and will seek prosecution.

For quite some time, I, along with many other people, have called for the arrest and prosecution of politicians who are refusing to cooperate with ICE and who continue to support sanctuary states and cities. In my view, these politicians are obstructing justice.

Many officials in New Jersey have called for Murphy to resign and even face prosecution for violating federal immigration laws.

My guess is that after all is said and done. Nothing will happen to Governor Murphy. But he will always be remembered as The Governor who wants to get arrested. It remains to be seen if his wish comes true.

Lt. Steve Rogers

Steven Rogers served in the United States Air Force from 1970-1974. After receiving an honorable discharge in 1974, he became a police officer in the city of East Orange, New Jersey. In 1976, he left the East Orange Police Department and became a police officer in the Township of Nutley, N.J. until he retired in 2011 as a Detective Lieutenant, Commander of the police department's criminal investigative division. In 1991, Mr. Rogers was appointed by the NJ Attorney General to instruct Community Policing methodologies at the Israeli National Police Academy, Beit Shemesh, Israel. In 2008, Mr. Rogers was elected to the Nutley, N.J. school district Board of Education, and in 2012, he was elected to Nutley, N.J. Board of Commissioners (City Council), and re-elected to that position in May 2016. He termed limited-himself in 2020. During his tenure as a Nutley Commissioner, he established the first municipal government Military & Veterans Affairs Bureau in New Jersey, which has won statewide acclaim. He was a candidate for NJ Governor in 2017. In August 2005, Mr. Rogers lead a rescue team of volunteers to rescue animals after Hurricane Kitrina hit the gulf coast. In 1986, Mr. Rogers enlisted in the United States Navy Reserves and served with the Office of Naval Intelligence until he retired as a Lieutenant Commander in 2004. In 2001, he served as the Deputy Director Intelligence Support Group, Homeland Security. In 2002, he served as Deputy Chief of Staff, (N2) Intelligence, assigned as the U.S. Northern Command's Senior Military Intelligence Officer to the FBI National Joint Terrorism Task Force, Washington, D.C. He retired from the Navy in 2010. Mr. Rogers has a degree in Criminal Justice Administration from William Paterson University, Wayne, N.J. He also completed virtual courses of study in military strategy at the United States Naval War College, Rhode Island; and courses on Global Terrorism at the United Nations, New York City. Mr. Rogers is an author and news contributor for several multimedia television and radio networks. Mr. Rogers is married and has 3 grown children.
