There was a time when environmental groups were championing important causes that made sense and really needed to be brought to the public, media, and government attention. But no longer — practically everything they stand for today is completely bogus. Consider the following supposed threats:
- Man-made climate change? Not a threat.
- Overpopulation? Nonsense.
- Renewables replacing fossil fuels? Not on this planet.
- Running out of “fossil” fuels? Not in the lifetime of anyone living, or even their great-grandchildren.
- Biofuels: renewable and sustainable? Not a chance.
- Offshore wind energy? A massive engineering and financial boondoggle.
- Confining new housing to the footprint of existing cities? Not required!
- Mass transit necessary to achieve sustainability? Not at all.
- “Sacred” wilderness areas? A silly idea designed to create a new religion.
- And the grand-daddy question of them all — are “renewables” actually renewable? No!
To discuss all this and tell us why none of the above “problems” are founded on solid science and economics, we have invited Edward Ring, the director of water and energy policy for the California Policy Center, to be our guest today. Ed is one of the keenest public policy writers and commentators in the U.S. on California and national policy and environmental & energy issues. He co-founded the California Policy Center in 2013 and served as its first president.
Ed is also a senior fellow with the Center for American Greatness and a regular contributor to the California Globe. His work has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Economist, National Review, City Journal, and other media outlets. His undergraduate degree is in Political Science from UC Davis, and he has an MBA in Finance from USC. Ed is the author of several books, including “Fixing California – Abundance, Pragmatism, Optimism” (2021), “The Abundance Choice – Our Fight for More Water in California” (2022), and “Solutions – Innovative Public Policy for California” (2024), all listed in the references below.
Join us today to learn why most of the crusades of modern environmentalists are pure bunk!

This 2-minute clip from Moore’s movie demonstrates that, when you consider how these machines are made and the huge volumes of toxic waste that are released when they are manufactured, wind and solar power may very well be the dirtiest and most environmentally destructive energy sources on the planet.
