Donald Trump’s vision for the Golden Age of America continued this week with the announcement of the Golden Dome. In a brief ceremony and press conference in the Oval Office alongside Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Trump made the announcement to complete the vision started by Ronald Reagan more than 40 years ago.
Technology and funding were issues for Ronald Reagan during his time, but the framework for Israel’s Iron Dome and now the Golden Dome can be traced back to Reagan. Trump said Tuesday, “The Golden Dome will be capable of intercepting missiles even if they are launched from other sides of the world and even if launched from space.”
The plan will include multiple layers of defense that expand on what the US currently has by using artificial intelligence and other new technology. The dome will be produced in Florida, Georgia, Indiana, and Alaska. The defense companies have not yet been selected, although defense contractor Lockheed Martin said, “This is a Manhattan Project-scale mission, both urgent and crucial to America’s security,” and they added on X that they are ready to support the mission.
The cost? According to the Congressional Budget Office, it is massive; they put the price tag at over $500 billion. On this episode of ‘Truth Be Told with Booker Scott,’ we will hear the president’s comments on the new security mission and the Golden Dome.
