Since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine war in February 2022, I have consistently said that it was China’s proxy war against America. The US has bled its resources by the billions, benefiting China and its partners in BRICS. Congress has allocated $175 billion through five different bills, the last being in April 2024, although not all of that money has been allocated at this time.
American resources have also been sent to Ukraine in the form of weapons and additional cash that was available to the Biden administration from different funds. Sanctions that Europe and America put on Russia for purchasing natural gas and oil have only helped Iran and ultimately helped fund the Houthis, Hezbollah, and Hamas, Iran’s proxies.
Frustration has built among Americans who have grown tired of the Ukraine money pit with no apparent end in sight. Donald Trump’s administration has been working to end the conflict since day one of his administration. Ambassador Steve Witkoff has had multiple meetings with Putin in Russia, and Zelenskyy has made trips to DC to meet with Trump.
Zelenskyy abruptly left his last meeting with Trump after getting into a skirmish with Vice President JD Vance. During that visit, Zelenskyy was to have signed an important deal that would give some mineral rights to the United States as repayment for the billions of dollars of support. Ukraine’s ground is rich with minerals that are needed to fuel the future global economy, such as artificial intelligence.
This week, Donald Trump’s administration announced the signing of a partnership with Ukraine, giving America some rights to the precious minerals and Ukraine’s resources. The agreement will also make America responsible for rebuilding the nation at the conclusion of the conflict. Some have asked, why?
Go back to the peace negotiations, Steve Witkoff’s meetings, and Putin’s meetings. Putin drew two specific lines: Ukraine can never become a NATO member, and Russia will never give up the land it has acquired over the last three years during the conflict. This mineral rights deal that Trump signed is not just a long-term repayment for America’s investment; it’s also a huge part of the peace plan playing out.
If America partners with Ukraine, it will have an interest in protecting its investment, which is Ukraine, and Russia will know it. With the American partnership, the need for Ukraine to enter NATO somewhat dissolves. The only piece remaining for the Ukraine-Russia peace will be the land negotiation. Trump said he would end the war, and it’s getting close.
On this episode of ‘Truth Be Told with Booker Scott,’ we discuss the puzzle pieces for peace between the two nations. We also discuss the latest Donald Trump cabinet meeting, during which it was revealed that the Biden administration worked with social media companies to take away Americans’ First Amendment rights.
