Article VI, Clause 3 of the Constitution requires all elected officials and officers of both the states and the United States to be bound by oath or affirmation to support the Constitution of the United States.
Since the Supreme Law of the land is not taught in school, not even in law school, how can we expect these people to be able to fulfill their oaths when they don’t know what it is they are supposed to support?
There are plenty of examples of these officials violating their oath to support the Constitution, some of them flagrantly, others ignorantly. But what are the consequences for such violations? Better yet, what should be the consequences?
Let’s take a look at some recent examples and see what these violations are and how we can deal with them.
