Looking at the top three issues that Americans will vote on in 2024… Economy, Immigration, and Abortion – are Republicans or Democrats better positioned to win on those policies?
The Fed slashed interest rates by half a point just before the election. Is this an indication of a failing economic market? Economic Forecaster Harry Dent will tell us if Harris or Trump has the better economic plan to put America back on track.
Over the last several years, many economic experts, including Harry Dent, have been predicting a serious recession — a near-type depression to bring the country to its knees. Depending on how this plays out and who gets into office with the election — stimulating growth vs. depressing growth — Trump vs. Harris — could this decline once again be starved off for a few years into the future?
Fed slashes interest rates by a half point, an aggressive start to its first easing campaign in four years.
The Federal Open Market Committee chose to lower its key overnight borrowing rate by a half percentage point, or 50 basis points, amid signs that inflation was moderating and the labor market was weakening. The Federal Reserve will meet again just days after the election – was this the right move now, or should they have waited until that meeting in November? So it would have avoided any implications that they were putting their economic power on the election scale? (CNBC)
As concerns around the state of the economy and inflation continue, about eight in ten registered voters (81%) say the economy will be very important to their vote in the 2024 presidential election. Harris supporters – 67% say abortion is very important. (Pew Research)

A terrorist attack before the election would change the outcome immediately; former immigration judge Andrew Arthur will explain how Democrats were able to reframe the immigration crisis that happened under their watch. As the Middle East war escalates, IQ al-Rassooli talks about the impact on the election.
Earlier this year, immigration was at the top of the list of policy issues that Americans would vote on in November. Popular thinking was that the immigration crisis was so big that it would be the deciding factor in this presidential election. We see the economy and abortion have surpassed it — how were the Democrats able to reframe the immigration crisis that Biden Harris created?
Although Congress has the broadest power to regulate immigration, it has not passed a major immigration reform bill since 1986. That has led states to implement their own efforts to slow immigration across the southern border. One such effort is Operation Lone Star. Texas has spent $11 billion to deploy Department of Public Safety troopers and National Guard soldiers to the border to erect razor wire and other barriers and arrest migrants for breaking state laws. The conflict between state and national responsibilities over immigration has made this a major issue in most elections on the ballot this fall. (Dallas Morning News)
Top Hezbollah commanders among 31 killed in Israeli strike on Beirut
Iran said Saturday the Middle East was on the brink of war after the deadly strike on the Lebanese capital, which followed the wave of attacks on Hezbollah’s pagers and walkie-talkies. Hezbollah was reeling Saturday from an Israeli airstrike that killed two of its senior figures and dozens of other people, intensifying fears of all-out conflict in the Middle East. The US, specifically Biden and Harris, have been pushing for a ceasefire and an end to the war. Last week, reports were that they had given up on any ceasefire for the duration of Biden’s time in office. With Gaza protests still ongoing, does this impact the election? In what ways? (NBC News)

Jason Storms, National Director of Operation Save America, says the Republicans have not framed the abortion fight accurately and it will impact the election.
Trump said in a lengthy all-caps social-media post late Friday, and again at a rally in North Carolina Saturday, that women are less healthy, less safe, more depressed and less optimistic than they were four years ago when he was president. Speaking directly to women, he said: “You will no longer be thinking about abortion” because the issue has now been returned to the states to decide. The comments underscored Trump’s anxiety over the issue, which has proven to be a powerful motivator for women and could play a major role in the suburban areas that may decide the election. The Harris campaign quickly circulated his remarks, with a spokeswoman saying: “After ripping away our reproductive freedom, now he’s trying to tell us how to think.” (WSJ)
Democrats have framed the abortion debate using FEAR. Will Americans see through the rhetoric and media lies?
Framing the debate: Her Campus says that this means that many people face limitations to their bodily autonomy and can be criminally prosecuted for receiving an abortion, which also potentially paves the way for restrictions on birth control, emergency contraception, IVF, and more. Reproductive rights include a person’s ability to make their own healthcare decisions when it comes to birth control, abortion, and reproductive care. (Her Campus)
