On Jul 28, an article titled “Mysterious Chinese COVID Lab Uncovered in City of Reedley CA” (https://californiaglobe.com/articles/mysterious-chinese-covid-lab-uncovered-in-city-of-reedly-ca/) has revealed a shady Chinese bio-lab “Prestige Biotech Inc” (PBI), which contains at least 20 types of infectious pathogens and piles of unknown samples, as well as 900 genetically engineered lab mice in an abandoned warehouse since Oct 2022.
It definitely violates bio-safety regulations that so many unclear bio-hazard materials are illegally stored in a residential area. Moreover, it is concerning that the lab locates approximately 40 miles from Master Jet Base Leemore, home of the US Navy’s West Coast F-18 Hornets (https://twitter.com/Jkylebass/status/1685349443283881984?s=20). As the local officers described in an interview, it is a “bio-house of horror” (https://twitter.com/TheChiefNerd/status/1685821450135961601?s=20).
However, more suspicious and disturbing points on PBI and its CCP-related network have been identified during our investigation, especially the exclusive information our team obtained from China.
First, as a virologist working in the WHO Reference Lab at the University of Hong Kong for over five years, my job was mainly designing and conducting projects using lab animals, viruses, and vaccines. From my perspective, the most unreasonable thing in this lab is that PBI maintains the lab mice in the warehouse. According to the court file, PBI claimed that it would open brand-new factories in the US to manufacture in vitro diagnostic reagents. But, it doesn’t require lab mice AT ALL for such purposes. Meanwhile, there is no proper research animal facility in a warehouse, which means those mice under contaminated conditions can not meet the criteria for any scientific research anymore. In other words, those mice are totally wasted from the moment of moving into the warehouse unless they will be applied for non-ethic and non-scientific projects.
The owner of PBI told the court that those lab mice are worth almost 1 million USD because they were of a particular strain after 6-year genetic engineering by Universal Meditech Inc (UMI) in CA. PBI also claimed that it was the creditor of UMI, so it received the mice with other materials in the warehouse since Oct 2022, right after the bankruptcy of UMI. However, it still doesn’t make sense. Given the very high costs and standards of lab mice maintenance, if PBI needs to make money or do experiments using the precise mouse strain in the future, it is more practical, scientific, and economical to preserve mouse embryos and sperm through cryopreservation (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8211118/) before that.
Secondly, according to local Health Officers, so far, around 20 types of infectious agents have been identified in that lab, which include:
Additionally, there are 32 big fridges containing numerous unknown or unlabeled samples (e.g., blood and body fluids) and other bio or chemical reagents. Frankly, in the worst scenario, those materials may cause outbreaks in the US many times, even during pandemics.
With many questions, we turned to checking the business information on PBI and UMI. Barry Zhang (Bai-Rui Zhang) is listed as Prestige BioTech’s Registered Agent by the Nevada Sec of State. While Michael M Lin (Meng-Ru Lin) of Lin Law Group in NV is the leading attorney hired by UMI. Interestingly, Barry Zhang, who was President of the Chinese American Society of CPAS (2011-2012), has appeared in CCP’s reports as an active United Front leader (https://myhunan.us/562/), and Michael Lin always attends CCP’s United Front events as a generous sponsor (https://www.lasvegaschinesedailynews.com/news/vegas/20180223/18447.html).
Moreover, in 2019, Chief Operative Officer Candace Liu of UMI was invited by China-California Business Forum as a VIP guest, meeting high-ranking officers from the Chinese General Consulate in LA and China. It demonstrates the importance of UMI in CCP’s overseas network. (https://www.unecne.com/archives/82659)
Furthermore, we have identified the real owners of PBI in Qingdao, China. So far, our evidence shows that PBI is a company of a large business group which involves biopharmaceutical, diagnostic, export and import trade, cattle industry, and even immigration service. Most of the companies entitled “Ai De” and share the same address: 141 Zhuzhou Rd, Qingdao.
Among them, Ai De Biopharmaceutical Industry is controlled by Zhao-Yan Wang and Xiu-Qin Yao (https://www.qixin.com/company/ce04fe06-d76b-4cc0-b98c-9850fa54ca2a). Yao is the contact of PBI, but the mobile number she provided to the court belongs to Zhao-Yan Wang (by real-name authentication in China). Meanwhile, Zhao-Yan Wang is the President of UMI (https://www.dnb.com/contact-directory/contact-profile.zhaoyan_wang.581113e71e21f09b2b2b8eb014a60d2f.html). And Ai De companies are the top trading partners for UMI (https://www.importgenius.com/importers/universal-meditech).
Therefore, it seems dishonest and very suspicious when PBI told the court that it “didn’t see any similar infectious agents in the list of all items and refrigerator contents provided by UMI” and emphasized that “in the list of items and information we have, we have not got any infectious agents harmful to public health.”
More importantly, Zhao-Yan Wang also owns Ai De Immigration Service Company in Qingdao. According to the documents we obtained, it requires very strong connections with CCP’s Public Security system to get the license of immigration service. Hence, PBI and UMI both connect with CCP’s United Front Work and Public Security, which are the same departments in charge of the notorious overseas police stations (https://www.americaoutloud.news/ccps-spider-web-like-united-front-network-its-rampant-violations-of-us-sovereignty/).
The deeper we dig, the more shocking evidence we obtain. To reveal the true colors of the mysterious lab, our investigation is still going on, and we will update via The Voice of Dr. Yan.
As matters stand, this illegal lab in Reedley is more likely a storage or hub, illegally providing infectious materials and mice for CCP’s bio-network in the US, rather than a sloppy civil lab that lacks management. Is it just the tip of the iceberg? Considering the potential bio-threats posed to Americans, working in a bipartisan manner may be the best strategy to resolve the horrific issue.
