Like the Inflation Reduction Act that included $400 billion for the Green New Deal, let’s see what is included in this National Security supplement or the ‘Border Bill.’ Details of the legislation were released on Monday, February 5.
Let’s just start with the top line—$ 118 billion more dollars. We’re $34 trillion in debt; we’re spending $2 trillion more than we collect, so what’s another $118 billion?
You’ve probably heard these details, but let’s hit them real quick:
- $60 billion for Ukraine
- $20 billion for “border security”
- $2.3 billion for illegal resettlement in the U.S.
- $14 billion for Israel
- $10 billion for humanitarian aid in Gaza
Kentucky senator Rand Paul says the bill is “an anti-American fake border reform.”
Marsha Blackburn says she “won’t for any bill that legalizes illegal immigration.”
Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas says, “The bill grants 50,000 extra green cards per year for no apparent reason and entirely unrelated to border security. The bill also guarantees new, government-funded lawyers for illegal aliens.”
Senator Chuck Schumer says if Republicans don’t pass the bill, he’ll be sending your sons and daughters to the eastern front.
When the Senate passes this and sends it to the House, it will die there. Majority leader Steve Scalise has already said the Republicans won’t bring it for a vote, and the Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, has said it’s dead on arrival.
Also, on this episode of ‘Truth be Told with Booker Scott,’ author Aaron Renn joins the conversation to discuss living in a negative world. His book titled ‘Living in the Negative World’ highlights the challenges Christians in America face when being Christian is the minority, not the majority.
