Laura worked for 25 years at one of the premier medical institutions in America. She was mandated to receive the vaccine in January 2021, or else her employment would be terminated. She believed it was vital for her to receive her vaccine not just for her health, but to prevent transmission to those she may work alongside. Since receiving her vaccine and booster, she finds herself without the support of the very institution she committed most of her adult life to serve. The community she loved refused to acknowledge that she was vaccine injured.
Despite being the top institution for research, her medical condition was not taken seriously for research. Doctors told her that it was a mental health issue while previously being in excellent health. Laura thought her employer would stand behind her and get her the care she needed. A year later, she cannot feel her legs, and has painful mouth sores that make it difficult to eat and function most days. This all happened after her mandated doses.
I offer Laura’s courageous story to provide strength to the vaccine-injured community. Laura was concerned about using her full name as the stigma of what she has gone through remains, and she struggles to allow others to hear of the pain and suffering she endures. She hopes that by sharing her story here today, others can find their own courage to build community and support.
