On October 22, 2004, President George ‘Dubya’ Bush said, “Freedom is on the march in this world. I believe everybody in the Middle East desires to live in freedom. I believe women in the Middle East want to live in a free society. I believe mothers and fathers want to raise their children in a free and peaceful world. I believe all these things, because freedom is not America’s gift to the world, freedom is the almighty God’s gift to each man and woman in this world.”
Just over two years earlier, the Twin Towers had fallen. Freedom within the United States was slowly taken away, culminating in the Biden Presidency’s Truth Commission within the Department of Homeland Security essentially calling the Freedom of Speech dead. Climate Czar John Kerry telling the World Economic Forum that once Kamala Harris won the election, the First Amendment was gone.
Kamala Harris did not win the 2024 election. Instead, the world saw the demand for a rebirth of freedom with the election of Donald J. Trump to another term of office.
It’s not just America. Giorgia Meloni is the Prime Minister of Italy. Javier Milei is the President of Argentina. Herbert Kickl is on the verge of forming a coalition government in Austria. Geert Wilders has put together the most right-wing government in Dutch history. Germany may not see a right-wing government, but the Alternative for Germany has become the largest party in Germany, and Sweden Democrats have become a significant voice in Sweden. Finally, Justin Trudeau has been forced to step down from his party leadership in Canada. All of these represent a global, right-wing trend.
Those on the political left claim that right-wing extremism is raising its ugly head, but the truth is that there is nothing extreme about the movement back toward the right that has been occurring over the past few years. The public of the Western World has, instead, watched country after country fall over the abyss into left-wing extremism and has watched the very fabric of society after society crumble as a result.
We the People want governance that works.
Join us on this week’s episode of Cutting Through the Chaos for an in-depth exploration of this right-wing resurgence, along with an analysis of what it means for the short and long-term interests of the United States.
